Marathon runners raise over £10,000

Thank you to our runners in the London and Brighton Marathons for their fantastic achievements; as well as months of training they have been fundraising for the Winnicott Foundation.

Luke Johnson, from Virgin, has raised nearly £8,000 to date through donations and various fundraising activities that he has orgaanised. Luke told us:

"Yesterday was fantastic. I had an absolutely brilliant time, though admittedly there were some incredibly hard parts to the course. Despite the pain encountered in parts, I managed to beat my target time of 3:45 and came in at 3:35! I’m incredibly pleased and I’m still beaming from the endorphins."

Ewan West, whose son was cared for in the Winnicott Baby Unit at St Mary's, has raised over £2,600, said:

"I would certainly recommend the experience, particularly when you can be inspired by knowing that you are running for a good cause.  I have been very touched by the generosity of all those who have sponsored me and added words of encouragement".

You can still sponsor our runners:

London Marathon runner aiming to raise £10,000 for Winnicott Foundation!

Luke Johnson is not only training hard for April's London Marathon but is also busy fundraising to raise £10,000 for The Winnicott Foundation! Supported by his emploer, Virgin, who wanted to support small charities in the marathon, Luke has organising fundraising events including serving lunch to his colleagues in fancy dress! Luke is running for 60-90 minutes 3 times a week, plus putting in a 2-3 hour run every weekend.

This is Luke's first marathon and we are very grateful for this huge commitment. The charity was suggested to him by a colleague who is the parent of a baby cared for in the Winnicott Baby Unit.

Will you support Luke? Could your employer support Luke? Visit his fundraising page at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/LukesMarathon
