Winnicott Foundation Runners raise over £22,500 in the British 10k Run!

Congratulations to the Winnicott Foundation team who participated in the Asics British 10k Run 2008. On a very wet and windy morning on Sunday the 6th of July a team of 37 Winnicott Foundation runners composed of Winnicott parents, St Mary’s Hospital staff and friends all gathered in central London with 25,000 other runners to take part in the British 10k.

Our team was composed of runners of all levels of experience from seasoned marathon runners to those who’d never run a 10k before. Everyone made a fantastic effort in running with one of our runners, Mark Moses, finishing in overall 29th place with a phenomenal time of 35 minutes and fifty seconds. As well as to our team, thanks also go to all our supporters who braved the cold and rain to come out to cheer the team along. After the event both runners and supporters repaired to the Texas Embassy Cantina for some very welcome food and drinks; many thanks to Rachael Daniel and Jonathan Rowland for very kindly buying drinks for the team!

At the last count, the team has raised over £22,500 in sponsorship! This is a truly amazing amount and testimony to the hard work everyone on the team put in to raise funds and we are deeply grateful for everything they have done.

Despite the rain everyone contributed to make it an incredibly enjoyable and successful day. The next British 10k will on the 5th of July 2009 – it’s a great event, an opportunity to get fit for summer, I hope it’s fun being part of the Winnicott Foundation team and it’s all for a good cause. Keep an eye on this site for details of running events in 2009.
